What is AI? Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is technology that allows computers to think, learn, and solve problems in ways that feel almost human. From recognising faces in photos to understanding spoken words, AI is already part of everyday life — and now you can learn how it works.

What You Will Learn

You will explore the building blocks of AI and technology through hands-on sessions covering:

• AI and Image Recognition — how computers learn to see and identify objects in photos and video
• Gesture Recognition — teaching machines to understand human movement and body language
• Python Programming — writing your first lines of code using one of the world’s most popular programming languages
• Arduino Integration — connecting code to the physical world using simple electronic components
• Communicating with Machines — understanding how humans give instructions to AI systems
• How to Tell AI What to Draw — discovering how AI generates images from text descriptions
• The Great AI Debate — exploring both sides of the question: is AI good or bad for society?

You will also be introduced to web development, learning how HTML structures a webpage, how CSS makes it look great, and how JavaScript brings it to life. You will discover how AI can power a website to deliver smart, interactive experiences.

Beyond the screen, you will also explore how AI is applied in daily life — from intelligent machinery and automated systems in industries, to how Large Language Models (LLMs) are trained on data to understand and generate human language. By the end of the program, you will have a well-rounded understanding of how AI shapes the world around us.

Exploring Penang

Learning doesn’t stop in the classroom. As part of the exchange, you will go on a local excursion to experience the rich culture and heritage of Penang firsthand. You will also take part in a historical culture project, connecting what you discover on the ground with the digital skills you are building in the program.
